WIBN Conference 2018 – The Networking Summit

I thoroughly enjoyed acting as MC at the Networking Summit on September 21st in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport. Founded by the incredible Siobhan Fitzpatrick from Catseye Coaching and WIBN Ireland and with an array of amazing speakers and masterclasses, it certainly helped everyone to #GainTheEdge when it came networking.

Here’s attendant Jean Evans CMP @Jean_E_Evans with her thoughts…

“Last Friday 21st, the inaugural Networking Summit took place in Dublin. Brainchild of @Siobhán Fitzpatrick who had the vision and courage to start something that is here to stay! To say that it was a fantastic event, is quite the understatement. There are so many nuggets and fantastic information that has come from the line up of exceptional speakers @Catherine Moonan @Kingsley Aikins @Joseph McGuire @David Russell and the inspirational Joanna O’Riordan, all MCed by the lovely @Alison Comyn. Different information will have resonated with different people and then we all did your own masterclasses. For my part, I wanted to share some of the take-aways and I hope that the conversation can continue with other attendees sharing what they learned and what value that took away from the day. So ‘my ask’ – if you attended and have other points to share, please add them on in the comments! Thanks 🙂

Roll on next September for the 2nd Networking Summit.

Networking is the single most impactful thing people should learn as part of their education. And it’s not taught anywhere…until now! “

It’s always a risk to share the stage with Mentalist Keith Barry!

Moderator – ‘Schizophrenia: The Voices In My Head’ – panel discussion

I’ll be chairing a discussion after the free screening of this IFTA nominated film ‘Schizophrenia: The Voices In My Head’ on Thursday at 6pm in the Irish Film Institute. All are welcome to attend but book now to avoid disappointment. The panel will include the documentary producer Aoife Kavanagh, one of the documentary’s interviewees Nicola Wall, Susan McFeely from Shine, supporting people affected by mental ill health, and Neil Moore from DCU Recovery College. It’s part of the month long national Green Ribbon Campaign to encourage people in Ireland to End Mental Health Stigma.

MC – The Networking Summit

I’m thrilled to be involved in yet another amazing event in Ireland this September.

The Networking Summit on Friday 21 Sept 2018 will welcome 150+ business drivers focused on enhancing their communication, networking and performance skills and #GainTheEdge through interactive sessions with thought leaders in their fields.

You will also be motivated and inspired by TedTalk speaker Joanne O’Riordan, No Limbs No Limits who shows us ‘There’s always a way’.

I was lucky to meet Joanne when she was the keynote speaker at a Women in Sports lunch I hosted a few years ago, and she is not to be missed!

In fact, she received a standing ovation following her stirring and powerful speech.

‘I live each and every day with the attitude of I can and I will achieve,’ she said, her massive personality shining from the stage.

‘We should apply this mindset not just in our daily lives but our sporting lives too. People like Katie Taylor have shown us that if you live for a dream and fight for a dream, that dream will ultimately become a reality.’

Joanne is one of only seven people in the world with Total Amelia, a condition which has left her without arms or legs.

This has not held her back in any way, and it was an honour and a pleasure to hear how she has overcome the odds to achieve so much in her short years.

‘Of course, like anything in life we all have obstacles or barriers to overcome,’ she continued. ‘Some are more obvious than others and while we each strive to do the best and be the best we should never forget that we are part of a wider team.’

‘I have been extremely lucky to have the support of my family and friends over the years to allow me reach my goals because lets face it if we are given the opportunity to excel we ultimately allow ourselves to become the person we want to be,’ she concluded.

There are many more wonderful speakers throughout the day, and they will hold masterclasses giving delegates the opportunity to gain valuable insights from these industry leaders.

Personal Branding Session AXA

Personal Impact & Brand – a special ‘International Women’s Day’ workshop

March 9th is International Women’s Day, and this year, AXA Insurance Dublin head office held a day of inspiring and interesting workshops, designed to focus on fostering their female talent.

I was delighted to be able to deliver a tailored one-hour session on Personal Impact & Brand, examining; what makes us unique and stand out from the crowd; how to shape a brand for ourselves and market it effectively; managing your social media presence; communicating with confidence and how men and women communicate differently.

It was a whistle stop tour of topics, but they were a fantastic group of around 60 – the handful of men present said they learned a lot – and many said they would be more aware of the message their image and social media brand was sending out in future.

Network Ireland March 6th, 2018

Thank to everyone who turned out on Tuesday March 6th 2018 for this great evening event, run by Network Ireland (Louth), supported by Local Enterprise Office (Louth).

We had over 100 amazing women register, and it was lovely to see familiar faces from Drogheda, as well as making new contacts from all across the Wee County and beyond!

There was lots to take in over a fast-paced 90 minutes – don’t worry, I’ve added a Top Ten Takeaways below – and I do workshops and individual/group sessions on any of the topics discussed in greater detail.
